Safe Tree Removal That Protects What Is Underneath

Houston’s clay soil, heavy summer storms, and hurricane season are hard on mature trees. When a water oak starts leaning over a roofline, or a pine dies back after a drought, removal stops being a landscaping decision and becomes a safety one. Tree Removal Houston takes down trees of any size across the metro — fully licensed, fully insured, and with the rigging experience to bring a tree down in tight quarters without touching your house.

Most of our removals happen in established neighborhoods where there is no room for a tree to simply fall. We rope down and lower sections piece by piece, working over fences, pools, driveways, and power lines. Every job ends with the debris hauled away and the work area raked clean.

Signs a Tree Needs to Come Out

  • An Increasing Lean: A lean that has gotten worse, especially with cracked or heaving soil at the base, means the root plate is failing. This is the single most urgent warning sign a tree gives you.
  • Deadwood and Bare Canopy: Dead limbs in the upper canopy, or a trunk that no longer leafs out in spring, usually point to root damage or disease that pruning cannot reverse.
  • Decay at the Base: Mushrooms, shelf fungus, or soft, hollow-sounding wood at the root flare mean the structural wood is already compromised, even when the canopy still looks healthy.
  • Roots Damaging Structures: Roots lifting a foundation, driveway, sidewalk, or pool deck rarely stop on their own, and cutting the offending roots often destabilises the tree.
  • Storm Damage: A split trunk or a torn-out major leader leaves a wound the tree cannot close, and the remaining structure is no longer reliable in high wind.

Why Choose Us for Tree Removal?

  • Licensed and Fully Insured: We carry liability insurance and workers’ compensation, and we will send a certificate before work begins. Hiring an uninsured crew transfers that risk straight to you.
  • Rigging Experience in Tight Spaces: Most Houston removals have no drop zone. We lower sections on ropes over pools, fences, and rooflines rather than felling and hoping.
  • Honest Assessments: If a tree can be saved with pruning, we will tell you that instead of quoting a removal. We would rather keep the tree and keep the customer.
  • Complete Cleanup Included: Debris hauling and disposal are part of the quoted price. We rake the work area before we leave — there is no separate disposal charge afterward.

FAQ

Tree Removal Questions

  • How much does tree removal cost in Houston?

Cost depends on the tree’s height, trunk diameter, species, and above all its proximity to structures. A small backyard tree with clear drop space is a very different job from a 70-foot pine leaning over a roof that has to be rigged down in sections. We quote every removal on site, at no charge, so the price reflects the actual tree rather than a guess.

  • Do you remove the stump as well?

Stump grinding is quoted separately because not every customer wants it. If you plan to replant, re-sod, or build over the area, grinding is worth it — we grind 6 to 12 inches below grade and can haul off or leave the chips.

  • Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We carry liability insurance and workers’ compensation, and we are happy to send a certificate of insurance before work begins. Uninsured tree work is the single biggest risk a homeowner takes on this kind of job — if someone is hurt on an uninsured crew, the property owner can be held liable.

  • Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Houston?

Trees on private residential property inside Houston city limits generally do not require a permit. Trees in the public right-of-way, on commercial sites, or inside certain deed-restricted and HOA neighborhoods can have their own rules. We will flag it during the estimate if we think your situation needs a check.

  • How long does a removal take?

Most single-tree residential removals are finished in one day, often in a few hours. Large multi-tree jobs, crane removals, or properties with difficult access can run into a second day. We will tell you the expected schedule when we quote.
